POSITION SUMMARY:
Under close supervision, performs as entry:level engineer in some of the following areas: local and wide area networking, communications, and related software/hardware within a multi:platform operating environment. Works with other network professionals as directed to coordinate efforts, resolve cross:team issues and communicate changes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitors, analyzes, troubleshoots and/or evaluates hardware, software, and other network related problems. Works in integration of a total network including the planning, design, installation, maintenance, management, and coordination of the corporate LAN/WAN. Performs general LAN/WAN administration, provides technical leadership in the integration and test of complex large:scale computer integrated networks. Monitors, tunes, and supports existing network infrastructure and ensures stable, reliable, secure, and efficient network operations. Implements improvements to existing LAN/WAN architecture, and network Management systems based on guidance from senior level engineers. Analyzes performance and tunes Network Monitoring systems to collect appropriate status. Conducts research and evaluation of products in support of LAN/WAN needs. Coordinates with all responsible users and sites. Maintains current of technological developments and applications. Helps to evaluate vendor products to make recommendations for purchase. Acts as liaison with vendors to procure quotes for equipment and services and prepare documentation. Provides network design solutions for existing organizational/client needs.
Provides skilled technical assistance (LAN, WAN, Intranet, and Internet) in network planning, engineering, security, and architecture. Follows technical standards set by senior level engineers. Troubleshoot, repair and test computer workstations, servers, printers, peripherals, network switches, routers, telecommunication and teleconferencing equipment. Install and configure computer workstations, servers, printers, peripherals, network switches, routers, telecommunication and teleconferencing equipment and associated cabling. Maintain government and/or vendor:manufactured telecommunications equipment, fiber optic modems, multiplexer, fiber optic/Ethernet cables, switches and telephone systems.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
Typically requires a bachelors degree or equivalent and zero to two years of relevant experience are required. Minimum of two (2) years of experience troubleshooting and repairing IT equipment, installing IT equipment and maintaining telecom and fiber. Must have one of the following certifications: Computer Technology Industry Association : A+ (A+).
For those that have the experience but no certification, CACI will work with candidate to obtain a certification prior to them being placed on contract.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on computer for long periods, and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. Some travel may be required.
