REPORTS TO: Director of Operations
POSITION SUMMARY:
Landfill manager manages all the landfill operations and staff to ensure all activities are in compliance with safety, environmental and equipment maintenance policies.
The Landfill manager works closely with the Director of Operations, Consultants and Engineers to develop and implement construction and operational plans to ensure density, productivity and financial goals are achieved and ensures that the landfill is operated in a manner that is consistent with the conditions stipulated in the applicable permit.
The Landfill Manager works with the Director of Operations and other managers to develop and execute a local market strategy that complements the business units overall strategic operating and marketing plan and implements tactical initiatives to drive functional excellence and budget achievement.
The Landfill manager oversees all matters related to the landfill operations and oversees effective safety and accident prevention programs and leads all operations to ensure compliance with standards; he/she drives change when management initiatives and new processes are introduced that will contribute to the growth and durability of the operations.
This Landfill manager will provide additional oversight to other facilities.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Hiring, Training and Oversight of all Employees
Environmental and Safety Compliance
Maintenance and Equipment Policies and Programs
Financial Planning and Budget
Environmental Plans and Programs
Operational Plans and Productivity
Maintenance of Landfill Infrastructure and Systems
Community, Regulatory and Vendor Relationships
Oversee Construction and CQA Activities
Understand Permits and Maintain Permit Requirements
Prepare New, Maintain Existing Permits, and Complete Required Reporting
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION:
Required:
xF0B7; Bachelors Degree
xF0B7; Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or management experience.
Preferred:
Previous experience in landfill daily operations including, scheduling and planning, waste placement and soil/cover usage/management.
Certification as a Landfill Operator or working toward gaining certification as a Landfill Operator.
Bachelors Degree : Civil Engineering
Previous experience working at a site regulated a Regulatory Agency.
Previous experience in the waste services industry.
Proficient in interpreting plans and specifications
